Ahh, it’s a complicated life. Or is it? Well, yes and no. Over the years I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s easy to do something well as a one off. But doing a good job in a sustained way, over months or years, takes a bit more of a strategy.
After a while, some of these strategies – or, more simply, ways I get things done – become second nature. Last week, my good friend, the imminently inspiring Samantha Nolan-Smith asked me to share my thoughts on what my job has taught me about simplicity on her blog.
I thought you might like to read it. What journalism has taught me about simplicity. Enjoy!
If you head back here after reading – for the comments this week: What has writing (or your job, if it’s not writing) taught you about simplicity? Any tips for others?
Loved your Q&A Sue. What has writing taught me about simplicity? That less really is more. I’m always slashing the ‘reallys’ and the descriptive words and I know at the end the piece is stronger for it. Feels sloppy otherwise!
I love that – nicely put Rachel.
