It’s all deadlines and dinner dates in the lead up to Christmas. The publishing world slows to a halt over the break, which means it’s currently in fast forward mode to prepare. Editors are flat chat. Writers are desperately trying to catch interviewees before the holidays. Deadlines are looming! Here’s what I’m…
The new edition of Australian Yoga Journal. One of the great things about writing for mags is that if you’re in one, you get sent a copy hot off the press. My story on the many types of yoga teacher training is in the January 2012 edition (on stands now), but given that I already know what that says, I’m enjoying reading Erin O’Dwyer’s piece on Indira Naidoo’s cooking tips. Risotto with zucchini flowers? Or strawberry and white chocolate ganache tartlets. Or both?
The interaction with students in my Online Travel Writing course. Great questions and plenty of discussion keeping the online classroom a lively place to be.
The launch of my two smart phone apps: Yoga holidays worldwide and Sydney On The Green. Both coming to iTunes post Xmas. And (equally importantly), both finished in 2011 so that end-of-year sense of satisfaction can kick in.
Like crazy, before everyone disappears for the break. I’m filing stories for January and right through to March, all due before Christmas eve, unless I feel like working on Boxing Day (unlikely!).
The final touches for my upcoming travel writing trip to Western Australia. Over the break I’ll be taking the Indian Pacific train journey – 3.5 days from Sydney to Perth, and then doing some stories for Australian Geographic while I’m on the west coast. Can’t wait!
This Sunday, when I’ll be in full fledged silly season mode. Out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wish me luck 🙂
How are you wrapping up 2011?
Any tips for surviving till Christmas?
