Sue White is a highly regarded freelance writer whose work is published in newspapers, magazines and online publications in Australia and internationally. You can learn more below. Interested in what makes me tick?
Where I’ve been and where I’m at in 2017:
For the last few years, my main journalistic focus was filing stories for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age (Melbourne), ABC online, Australian Geographic online and Yoga Journal Australia. Throughout that time I’ve been filing weekly features and columns in My Career (Sydney Morning Herald and The Age). See my regular columns in My Career here.
I’ve niched my travel writing towards family travel – I’m now a columnist for Out & About With Kids magazine, publisher of the immensely useful website Babies Who Travel, and community founder of a thriving family travel Facebook community, Kids Who Travel. (The Kids Who Travel website is on its way too – sometime in 2017).
I also started doing more public speaking and was regularly booked as a public speaker or MC for events. I presented at the Digital Parents Conference, MCed the City of Sydney’s Green Up Your Life series, and taught conference delegates how to improve their writing skills at work.
For a smattering of what I’ve been up to lately, you might like to check out this page here.
I’m still writing a lot, particularly for the SMH/AGE. Like most successful freelancers, I can write on almost any topic, but my current areas of focus include travel (and particularly, family travel), environment, careers and productivity and wellbeing.
I’ve also added copywriting into the mix again. Sensible, given I was a communications specialist for ten years prior to the last ten years I’ve spent as a journalist. Some of my more recent copywriting clients are listed here.
I still love teaching travel writing and feature writing at the buzzing Australian Writers’ Centre – must be about seven years now! I’m also working on paying it forward by mentoring new writers through my private mentoring program, and am doing more and more 1-1 writing coaching for people in business, as well as helping businesses through my copywriting work.
Also doing lots of radio interviews – check a few of those out here. I’m also happy to participate in panels on writing, freelancing, working from home, productivity or anything travel related – particularly on the niche of family travel.
